Psalm 120
If, as we read Psalm 119, the Christian pathway is governed by the word of God, as we move from Golgotha to Glory, the psalmist here in psalm 120 highlights the truth, often ignored, that this pathway is what the Lord terms the difficult way NKJV. Indeed it is a pathway where we will find the lordship of the spiritual warfare that all Christians face. That is why Paul talks about enduring hardship as a good soldier 2 Tim 2:3 and gives us in Ephesians 6:14-20 the armour we are to wear, and the weapons we have to use.
The writer looks at his situation, recognising he lives amongst people whose heart is full of wickedness and desperately deceitful, and no matter that he desires peace, the people do not. Ephesians 2:14. Therefore in this stressful situation he cries to the Lord, which is a real indicator of his spiritual wisdom.
