Psalm 99

Psalm 99

(Read Psalm 99)

The dwelling place of God between the Cherubim. We first meet these heavenly beings in Genesis 3. God having created all things including Adam and Eve provided for them a paradise to live in, Eden, and the privilege to have fellowship with God. Humanity fell into sin and God’s justice put men and women out of the presence of God. God placed the cherubim at the tree of life Genesis 3:24 to stop men eating from its fruit.

They are next described as part of the mercy seat which covered the Ark of the Covenant in the Holies of Holies in the tabernacle Exodus 25:18. This is where God dwelt while Israel had no place of worship. This is where they could maintain their relationship, but only by God’s way. Anyone who tried to enter God’s presence were brought face to face with the cherubim, the guardian of God’s holy presence.
