Psalm 42

Psalm 42

(Read Psalm 42)

There is one word that sums up the early verses in this Psalm - passion. There are two expressions of passion. The first almost uncontrollable emotion and the second an intense enthusiasm for something. Both of these qualities are in short supply in modern Christianity. Most churches have settled into a form, pattern, which has become almost a tenet of faith and nothing, must upset the status quo.

The Psalmist displays both of them, an intense enthusiasm for God and his honour with an almost uncontrollable emotion all summed up in these verses.

How do we match up? Do we simply go through the motions of our church activities or these distinct displays of passion?
