Psalm 118
In this particular psalm we come across one of these remarkable and most interesting verses where we discover the wonder of prophecy Psalm 118:22-23. This is taken up by the Lord himself as being directly applied to him. Matthew 22:42 Peter in his defence before the Sanhedrin applies these verses to Christ and his sufferings.
The cornerstone was a very important part of the foundation of the building, it was the key to the whole structure. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:11 ‘for no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ’. The structure built upon this foundation is the church, the true church (1 Peter2:4-8) and believers are described as being living stones which are being built up as a spiritual dwelling place for our great God.
