Psalm 107

Psalm 107

(Read Psalm 107)

In verse four the Psalmist remarks about the early Hebrew nation, and that they found no city to dwell in. This reminded me of the father of the Hebrew nation as it is recorded of him in Hebrews 11:10 ‘that he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God’. He lived a nomadic life style and similarly his predecessors were strangers and pilgrims Hebrews 11:13. They were not content to accept anything less than that which they knew to be God’s brilliant plan. In this they are unequivocally linked with modern day believers. They like us were/are people of faith and are looking for something out of this world, a city of God. He promises us a far better dwelling place John 14:1-6. This is our life, one of the great sustaining blessings of believers. This is of course the Holy City of Revelation 21:2, and then our Christian pilgrimage will truly be over.
