Psalm 6

Psalm 6

(Read Psalm 6)

Psalm 6

The saint of God is not perfect. Like all other people he has difficulties, some are caused by the perplexities of life, others by the people around us, some even by problems within the church and some perhaps even more than the others by our own sense of failure.

Here we have David struggling from a sense of failure in his relationship with the Lord, and in this he is like us, but note his cry, return, rescue my soul, he has recognised his failure and that causes him to cry out in his need for forgiveness and restoration. Psalm 51:2

Note this victory prayer of the truly penitent will always lead to restoration. God only awaits our call. He will never throw us back on the dung heap. The returning always receive a warm welcome whether the failure was only momentary or for a longer period. David, a man after God’s own heart, Psalm 13:4, yet experienced his problems. Remember, 1 John 2:1, we too have an advocate, one called alongside to help, with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
