Christmas Actual

Matthew 2:2

Come and journey back in time with us to uncover the historical significance of the Nativity story and the birth of Jesus! Explore the rich historical context and the profound impact of this momentous event on human history. Together, we'll delve into the authentic, awe-inspiring story of the birth of the Savior and its lasting legacy.

If Christmas does not lead to Easter, we've lost the plot.

The Bible study explores the true meaning of Christmas beyond modern cultural celebrations, focusing on the divine plan of Christ’s birth and its significance in God’s redemptive purpose. It examines the prophecies, reality, and reasons for Christ’s coming, contrasting the authentic Christmas story with contemporary celebrations that often overlook its spiritual significance.

saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:2

Currently in modern Christianity, in so-called evangelical churches, we seem to be very reserved in our Christmas presentation...

  • The study opens with Matthew 2:2, highlighting the Magi’s search for the newborn King
  • God’s plan for Christ’s coming was established before creation (referenced in Galatians 4:4)
  • Jesus was unique in being “born king” rather than becoming king later
  • Multiple Old Testament prophecies predicted Christ’s coming
    • Genesis 3:15 (seed of woman)
    • Isaiah 9 (descriptions of Christ’s character and rule)
    • Isaiah 7 (virgin birth prophecy)
    • Micah (Bethlehem prophecy)
  • The virgin birth was essential to God’s salvation plan
  • Christ’s coming had multiple purposes:
    • To save sinners
    • To be a substitute for humanity
    • To provide ongoing salvation from sin’s power
    • To ultimately save people from sin’s presence
  • The study emphasizes that Christmas must lead to Easter for its full meaning

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, Galatians 4:4

If Christmas does not lead to Easter, we've lost the plot. And I'm convinced that as Christians we ought to be bold in our proclamation of this.

The Bible study emphasizes that Bethlehem is the central point of God’s redemptive plan, without which there could be no Calvary or heaven. It calls believers to return to genuine worship and celebration of Christ’s birth, moving beyond cultural traditions to embrace the deep spiritual significance of Christmas as part of God’s comprehensive plan for humanity’s salvation.
