Psalm 16

Psalm 16

(Read Psalm 16)

The Psalmist here moves into the most wonderful and much misunderstood revelation that of prophecy.

Here he predicts the most wonderful of all great truths that of the resurrection of Christ, The Messiah. Although not mentioned but never-the-less still true, that resurrection from the dead implies that Christ, as is prophesied in older scriptures, would suffer and die on behalf of all humanity. We, who live post Golgotha, resurrection and Pentecost, take this for granted.

When you read Peter’s epistles you begin to understand that the Old Testament prophets wondered about what they wrote, what was the interpretation of such mysteries.

This is the area where we often misunderstand the purpose of prophecy. Prophecy is not there for us to explain the future, rather it is for us to be aware of what the prophecies say and when we see the fulfillment to testify to the great truth that our God foretold the events and therefore he should be acknowledged as the one true God. Isaiah 43 Our God is omniscient. He knows all things.
