Creation

Genesis 1-2:

We explore the beautiful account of God's perfect creation of man, his work, and his perfect environment. This perfect world was created in love, but what does it mean that Jesus, the second Adam, came to restore what was lost through sin?

We cannot pick and choose what we want to believe or not to believe

What does it mean to truly believe the Bible as God’s word of truth in our modern age? This Bible study on Creation explores Genesis chapters 1 and 2, examining the supernatural origins of our world and humanity’s unique position as beings created in God’s image. As we navigate through these foundational chapters, we’re reminded that accepting Scripture requires faith in a God who cannot lie, even when His account challenges contemporary theories and cultural perspectives. This study invites us to wrestle with the question of whether we can pick and choose what to believe from Scripture, or whether genuine faith demands acceptance of the whole counsel of God.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Genesis 1:31

Man is the highest created order of being. Yes, higher than angels, higher than archangels, higher than a seraphim and cherubim. Why? Because we are the only ones that are created in his image, whatever that image is.

  • Christians are volunteers in God’s army, engaged in spiritual warfare against the forces of evil
  • God is characterized by truth, holiness, and love, standing in total contrast to Satan who is a liar, unholy, and represents hatred
  • The Bible is God’s inspired word of truth, and questioning Scripture is questioning God Himself
  • Genesis 1 represents the “supernatural” - creation occurring beyond natural explanation and observable phenomena
  • Genesis 2 represents the “supra-natural” - humanity as the highest created order, transcending normal boundaries
  • Man is created in God’s image and is the highest created order of being, above even angels
  • The seven days of creation are literal 24-hour periods, with light and darkness defining day and night from the first day
  • Sexual reproduction and having children was part of God’s original design before the fall, not a consequence of sin
  • Man was created first and holds supreme authority, but marriage is meant to be a partnership where husband and wife work together
  • Everything God created - including natural resources like coal, oil, and gas - was placed on earth for humanity’s benefit and use
  • We cannot pick and choose what to believe or practice from Scripture; it’s all or nothing

The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. Genesis 2:15

We cannot pick and choose what we want to believe or not to believe. We cannot pick and choose what we're going to practice or not going to practice. Many things are laid down in the word of God and we are going to be obedient to that word.

As we wrap up this study on Creation, we’re left with a powerful reminder that our faith isn’t just about Sunday morning religion - it’s about relationship with the God of truth who designed everything with purpose. The speaker challenges us to really think about what we believe and why. If we say we follow Jesus, who claimed to BE the truth, then we need to trust what He says about creation, even when it seems impossible by worldly standards. The whole beautiful story - from that first “Let there be light” to God forming humanity in His own image - points to one amazing truth: God created everything, including you and me, because He wanted a loving relationship with us. And that’s what Jesus came to restore when sin messed things up. So the real question isn’t whether we can explain every detail of how God created the world in six days - it’s whether we trust the One who was there at the beginning and loves us enough to tell us the truth about it all.
