Better High Priest

Hebrews 3:1-19

Hebrews 3:1-19 contrasts Jesus with Moses, highlighting Jesus as the superior High Priest who is faithful over God's house. This passage emphasises His greater honor and authority, encouraging believers to hold fast to their faith and recognize Jesus as the ultimate mediator and leader in their spiritual journey.

The building is just there to keep the church warm and dry.

Have you ever wondered why Jesus is called both an Apostle and High Priest, and what that means for our faith today? Join us as we explore Hebrews 3, where we’ll discover the unique role of Jesus and the vital importance of maintaining an obedient, believing heart.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice” Hebrews 3:7

The building is just there to keep the church warm and dry.

  • Jesus holds the dual role of Apostle (one sent on a mission) and High Priest
  • The High Priest was the only one who could enter the Most Holy Place with blood for atonement
  • The tabernacle structure had three parts: outer court, holy place, and most holy place
  • Jesus’ death tore the temple veil, giving believers direct access to God’s presence
  • Moses was faithful as a servant, but Jesus is faithful as the Son
  • Unbelief and disobedience prevented the Israelites from entering the Promised Land
  • The urgency of responding to God’s voice “today” rather than delaying
  • The parallel between wilderness wandering and spiritual disobedience

So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. Hebrews 3:19

Sometimes we have to walk a lonely path.

This study reminds us that Jesus, our great High Priest, has done what no other priest could do - providing permanent access to God’s presence through His sacrifice. His faithfulness as both Apostle and High Priest shows us not just His role in salvation, but His deep desire to bring us into relationship with the Father. Let’s respond to His voice today with hearts of belief and obedience.
