Psalm 68
The Psalmist springs a very practical point to our attention in Psalm 68:10. That is God provides for the poor. However in this case, as in many others, God uses people to accomplish his purpose.
The story that Jesus relates to us of the rich man and Lazarus, Luke 16:1-31. The rich man ends up in a place of torment but did he end up there because he was rich? NO! He ended up there because of his failure to keep the instructions of God to care for and help those who are poor. In our eyes we have access to news from around the world. At best, in our minds we comprehend some of it.
The truth of the words of our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in Mark 10:21. ‘The poor you will always have with you.’ There are two simple conditions we should add. One we cannot as individuals solve the worlds poverty situation but with wisdom from above we can help. The second is to be found in Galatians 6:10, ‘we should care firstly to those who are of the household of faith.’
