Psalm 63

Psalm 63

(Read Psalm 63)

One of the recurring themes you find within many of the Psalms is that of a yearning desire to know more about an intimate relationship with the Lord. It is expressed in different ways. Here it is as a thirst, not just as we think of it here, where we can turn a tap and our thirst is quenched, but rather like being in a desert without water with throat sore with dryness, the body faint and weak, so great is the need. Against this the Psalamist thirsts for that closer experience of fellowship with his God.

Jesus expressed this need when he instructs us to seek first the Kingdom of God, for an ever deepening relationship should be our first priority. First in importance for there is nothing more important than having and maintaining a loving relationship with the living God.
