Psalm 60

Psalm 60

(Read Psalm 60)

We have, in modern Christianity, fallen into the snare of the enemy, through projections of our great God as a friend and forgotten that he is the Lord God Almighty, to be revered and adored. The Psalmist reminds us that God has spoken in his holiness.

Our God is holy. There are two strands to this word. One is the fact of separation. God is totally separate from sin. The second strand is that of being different. These two strands of thought bring to our attention that our God is separate and different to sin, ‘in him is no darkness’ 1 John 1:5

Both the Old Testament and the New Testament exhort us to be holy, for our God is holy. Fortunately, not to be as holy as God is, but to be like God in that we live our lives differently to the world. That they may see that our Christianity is a completely different kind of life and reflect the image of the God in whom we have placed our trust.
