Psalm 56

Psalm 56

(Read Psalm 56)

The writer of the Psalm is still experiencing difficulties, not an unusual experience for us, but in this particular Psalm he expresses his confidence in his God. The Lord who he has put his trust in is a great and faithful God. Because his trust is in this God he will not fear what man can do to him. The Lord Jesus makes a comment that is pertinent ‘do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul’ Matthew 10:28. As the Bible teaches in the last days violence will be prevalent we need to learn afresh about ‘fear not’. I was reminded recently that the phrase ‘fear not’ occurs three hundred and sixty six times in the pages of the Bible, one for every day of the year including the leap year. God has promised that when we pass through the waters, difficult times, he will be with us. When we walk through fire, persecution, the flames will not harm us. Isaiah 43:2 Why should we be fearful?
