Psalm 53
This is no public statement, the fool is not an openly and obvious atheist but in his heart.
‘The fool has said in his heart there is no God’
Jesus said on one occasion ‘it is not what enters the mouth that defiles a man but what proceeds from his mouth’, Matthew 15:11, for over a period of time we express what is in our heart. The Bible often expresses the truth of the fact that some are wise and some are foolish. From God’s throne he draws the distinction. ‘The wise man’s eyes are in his head but the fool walks in darkness’ Ecclesiastes 2:14.
There is a saying ‘seeing is believing’ but in the relationship between God and man believing is seeing hence the fool lives his life in darkness and cannot see, see what, the evidence that God is, and is a rewarded of those who seek him Hebrews 11:6.
