Psalm 46
We live in violent times, wherever you go in thus world you will find that there is violence on every hand. In many countries this violence is directly aimed at Christians. Although Christians have had a fairly peaceful time, for a number of years, here in the British Isles this was not always the situation: the Wesley family found life difficult and members of the Salvation Army were often abused.
David found this was true in his life with enemies from outside the nation of Israel. Sadly from within Israel too there were times when he was under threat of loosing his life. He took comfort in the truth that the Lord was a secure refuse in difficult times. He knew too that God was always ready to help so we need not fear as we have peace of heart in every situation.
