Psalm 27

Psalm 27

(Read Psalm 27)

Here is one of the most wonderful expressions of devotion and worship that lifts our hearts and challenges us to be likeminded.

One thing that is requested from God, in Psalm 27:4, is one great desire of the heart, that he might dwell in the house of the Lord. I remember that when I first became a Christian in my teens for our spiritual growth we were encouraged to attend Bible Study Group on Mondays, prayer meeting Tuesdays, teaching service Wednesday, and young people’s fellowship on Thursday. I loved these and would not miss plus work with children and youth on Friday, gospel conferences on Saturdays, Sunday communion and involved in witnessing in gospel and open air services. It was marvellous for in all this we learned to know the wonder of our God, the joy of hours thinking about him, learning about the miracle of our new life in Christ, not only in the head but also in our heart. This led us on the wonder of the privilege of protection and service.

For our meditation: how do we measure up to the Psalmist’s hunger for God? How does the church cater for this hunger or have we lost our first love?

‘Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love’. Revelation 2:4
