Psalm 22

Psalm 22

(Read Psalm 22)

Oh the wonder, the Majesty, the glory of prophesies. How sad we live in a period of time when people deny the miracles of the Bible and often ignore or explain away the beauty of prophetic words.

Here in this Psalm, hundreds of years before the Roman empire came into being and brought crucifixion in as a popular manner of execution, the writer pens the horror of one who suffered such awful agony, the sufferers’ bones and feet dislocated, the suffering intense and the dire thirst. We see this was prophetic of the suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross on Golgotha’s brow.

This is especially true of that soul-wrenching cry ‘my God, my God why have you forsaken me’ Matthew 27:46

Only God knew what was to happen. This man Jesus delivered over by the pre-determined plan and foreknowledge of God Acts 2:23.

The horror is foretold and then fulfilled so that sinful people such as us could be spared God wrath and enjoy his forgiveness.
