Psalm 149

Psalm 149

(Read Psalm 149)

After calling on all God’s creatures to Praise the Lord, he then raises his sight and turns his attention to the congregation of the Godly Ones. The New Testament calls them saints, a mark of identity for all who have been born again of the spirit of God.

The first reason that should cause them to praise God is that he has lifted them from the rubbish heap and seated them amoung princes. Ephesians 2:6, 1 Samuel 2:8. We are also referred to as his new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Another reason is that God takes pleasure in his people as expressed in the New Testament in 1 John 1. In that statement the Christian is in fellowship with the Father and Son. This in-depth relationship is a wonderful expression of the grace and love of God in that he deleights to enjoy our companionship day by day. No wonder the Psalmist and the Christian should be actively praising the magnificent God.
