Psalm 146

Psalm 146

(Read Psalm 146)

Peter wrote in 2 Peter 1:21 reminding us that prophecy came about through Holy Spirirt activity.

In his first letter he tells that the writers of the Old Testament were writing for our benefit. Here in Psalm 146 we have one of these prophetic utterances, not this time concerning Christ’s sufferings but telling us about one of his activities during his preaching tours, verses Psalm 146:8-9. The Psalmist foretold that he would give sight to the blind, the record of which we have in the Gospels. He would also raise up those who were bowed down. In Matthew 11:28 he promises to lift the load from those who were heavy laden. We know too, from the Gospel records, that he defends the widows, the poor, the helpless and he fed the poor. He also is the one who hears all who call upon him.

Indeed every part of the life of Jesus Christ is foretold in the Old Testament.
