Psalm 140

Psalm 140

(Read Psalm 140)

Paul writes to Timothy (2 Timothy 3:1) and tells him that in the last days, just before Christ returns, Christians will face a difficult time. The word difficult is a poor translation, it would be better translated as violent days. There are always problems for Christians who stand true to the word of God, the Bible, but in the days of the final conflict violence will increase in intensity.

The Psalmist talks of experiencing the same kind of problems, violent men everywhere, yet God does not seem to answer his prayers for deliverance. Does this mean his faith failed? No. For in the penultimate and final verses, Psalm 140:12-13, he affirms his confidence in the truth that God will, in the end, vindicate his people.
