Psalm 133

Psalm 133

(Read Psalm 133)

How pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in unity.

It is good, indeed, a matter of great importance that within our church fellowship we enjoy unity, but too often we mistake unity for uniformity. Uniformity according to the dictionary is to conform without variance, which is often seen in strict communist countries where the people all wear the same identical clothing. In an army every recruit is trained to conform to the standard, freedom of ideas, dress or thoughts are actively discouraged. But unity recognises that although we are all different we may all have different ideas and thoughts, yet in Christ we are one. Paul states clearly that there is one body and one spirit, Ephesians 4:4 The body is of many parts but a complete unity. So should be the church.
