Psalm 112

Psalm 112

(Read Psalm 112)

One of the modern streams of thought, within Christian circles, is that all the blessings promised to Israel now belong to the church. The principles are unchanging.

The Old Testament saints were commended for their faith, Hebrews 11:1. Faith is still the criteria that is required and if you read the Gospels a great deal is said about faith, however, that does not apply to all the promises. Remember Israel is a national concept and all the promises are related to that time, but the church is or should be spiritual and related to heaven; our citizenship is heavenly. The wealth of Israel therefore is earthly, but that of the Christian is heavenly.

Jesus said lay up your treasures in heaven Matthew 6:20. Peter reminds us that this wealth is incorruptible, beware of those who express the idea that the promises to Israel of earthly prosperity is applicable to Christians today.
