Psalm 111

Psalm 111

(Read Psalm 111)

This is a short Psalm but from it comes a very important lesson about our God. Sometimes we who are true believers, forget this great and essential attribute of God, essential to a relationship with him. This being that he is the God of truth. This phrase occurs more than once, Deuteronomy 32:4. In the letter to Titus, Paul states clearly that God cannot lie. Hebrews 6:18 tells us it is impossible for God to lie. The Lord Jesus said ‘I am the truth’. He also tells us that the Holy Spirit is truth. The whole trinity bears this characteristic, therefore whatever they say will always be the truth.

Now God as an act of grace has caused godly men to record his words, 2 Timothy 3:16. He has inspired men to translate this record, which we call the Bible, into our language so we can read for ourselves these words of truth. It is referred to on more than one occasion as the Word of Truth, 2 Timothy 3:18. So we should be careful in questioning its veracity.
