Psalm 103
In the previous psalm the writer expressed his faith in the unchangeable God whereas this psalm tells us that the unchangeable God is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness Psalm 103:8. Compassionate means to have a deep awareness of someone’s suffering and desire to do something about it. Gracious means to be king and willing to bestow favour. Slow to anger means that he deals patiently with his people. Abounding in loving kindness means he is full of kindness and affection towards all humanity.
These four characteristics are wonderful unchanging aspects of the love God has for us. What was accomplished on the cross amply displays all the attributes of our amazing God and the richness of his love towards us all.
