Psalm 4

Psalm 4

(Read Psalm 4)

Psalm 4 begins with a prayer, which is one of the great spiritual exercises and practices for all Christians. Prayer is the key, as a young Christian we were taught that the prayer meeting or service was the powerhouse of the church. Paul was a great believer in prayer so he regularly prayed for churches where he had a connection. In the great chapter on the believer’s armour he expresses the truth that prayer is one of our two weapons in the spiritual warfare to which we are all called.

The Psalmist adds another great quality that ought to encourage us in our prayer life, which is that God hears prayers and no one will be ignored. Jeremiah 33:3

God says call to me and I will answer. It is not a waste of time and effort for the promise of God is that he will answer. We need to cultivate an ear to hear what the Spirit of God is saying to us too so we can understand the answer.
