Psalm 3

Psalm 3

(Read Psalm 3)

This Psalm begins with conflict, a concept that seems alien to many of us, yet Paul encourages us to be good soldiers. He reminds us to put on the whole armour of God for we are in a battle situation, it is a spiritual war fought against spiritual enemies.

However the Psalmist is confident that he has great advantages in his battles because he has God as his shield and protector, ‘this is the shield of faith’ Ephesians 6 The trust that God is on the side of the Godly. God was his keeper therefore he could enjoy peace and rest. A soldier in Israel in time of trouble could greet you with Shalom; God’s Peace is a resting place. God was his Saviour, he had the assurance that his salvation was in God alone and therefore he could face his enemies confidently.

Our salvation is secure in God, not because we feel saved, but because God has said so and He cannot fail.
